Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited in Portugal on Monday, 11th of January 2021 in Lisbon for a meeting with his Portuguese counterpart Antonio Costa on Monday.

The meeting will be held in the context of Portugal taking over the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union for the first half of 2021.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Monday thanked the Portuguese government and coast guard for their contribution in guarding Greece´s borders, simultaneously the eastern maritime border of Europe.

During the tour of the Lisbon headquarters of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), Kyriakos Mitsotakis described Portugal’s participation in the “Poseidon” mission in Aegean Sea, in charge of the European border agency - Frontex, “as one of the best examples of true solidarity.”

“We are all proud of this mission. Our two countries share a large part of the European Union’s external border and this is what we understand the importance of guarding these borders,” said his host, Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa.
