Portugal will be represented at the Iberoamerican Literature Festival LEA (Literature in Athens), which will take place in the capital of Greece between October 11 and November 18, 2021, under the auspices of Her Excellency the President of the Greek Republic, Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

This edition of the festival, given the health measures and the conditions required by the current pandemic situation, will feature both physical and digital presentations in which the Embassy of Portugal in Athens and Camões, I.P. will sponsor the digital participation of the Portuguese poet Maria Rosário Pedreira, who will contribute her verses at the Poetry Night of the same festival, plus the figital presentation of José Saramago's "The year of the death of Ricardo Reis", translated into Greek by the translator Athina Psilliá.

The events concerning Portuguese literature in the framework of the Lusophone part of the LEA festival will take place on the following days:

Digital event (Zoom) | Poetry night Ι (in Spanish and Greek)

In this edition, the traditional LEA Festival Poetry Night once again presents excellent poets and is presented in two sessions. In the first session will participate, Alexis Díaz Pimienta from Spain and Cuba, Felipe Benítez Reyes from Spain, Mercedes Janeth Soto Sánchez from Mexico and María Rosario Pedreira from Portugal.

Coordination: Juan Vicente Piqueras.

The evening will be moderated by Juan Vicente Piqueras and the Greek poet Dimitris Anguelís.

An activity supported by Acción Cultural Española, the Embassies of Portugal, Cuba, Spain and Mexico, the Instituto Cervantes of Athens, the Instituto Camões and the Abanico School.

"The year of the death of Ricardo Reis" by José Saramago. Kastaniotis Editions

A lucid meditation, through a poet and a city, about the meaning of an entire epoch. Saramago narrates the last year of the life of Ricardo Reis, one of the heteronyms of the Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa. Translation from Portuguese into Greek: Athina Psillia.

Giannis Kalogeropoulos and Theodora Pasachidou talk about the book with Athina Psillia.
